Yesterday, I decided to make an a cappella vocal arrangement of one of my favourite songs by Gillian Welch & David Rawlings. The song was originally written by the pair in 2001 as a response to the threat of music downloading to the livelihoods of musicians.
In these days of lockdown and social isolation, it takes on a new level of meaning for me.
Many of us are relying on music and the arts to get us through this difficult time but what will our cultural landscape look like in the months and years ahead?
If you are able to and would like to, consider supporting charities like Help Musicians UK who have already supported me and many thousands of musicians like me.
Or support the music venue trust so that there are still grass roots venues to perform live music in the future.
Or sign up to the Art Is Alive initiative, created by Rhiannon Giddens.
