Album news, festivals and music-making

So, it’s been a busy few months since the launch of ‘Songs of The River Rea’. The album has been getting some lovely reviews from the likes of Three Chords and the TruthFolking.comNorthern Sky Magazine and Band of Badgers.

Here is some of what they say:

“Eleven exquisitely crafted songs” Three Chords and the Truth UK

“There’s something in Katy’s voice that evokes melancholy yet is never morose nor overly sad. In fact there’s a sort of joy in the way she writes and how the songs are delivered… beautifully tender… Katy’s stories are always thoroughly convincing and at times they tug at the heartstrings” Northern Sky Magazine

“Nothing short of a masterpiece of songwriting, musicianship and production…Engaging, captivating and quite frankly, flawless” Band of Badgers Presents

The album’s been getting a bit of radio play around the UK too including being featured album on Mike Davies’ alternative roots show on Brum radio – listen Here

We had a splendid time at Wood Festival in May with two packed-out singing workshops and a full-band set on the main stage. Here we are singing My Friend with the Wood Festival choir and a few younger Bennetts too:
