This song is dedicated to the long line of gardeners in my family.
The idea for the song came to me as I was watering my tomato plants late last night in the midst of a summer heat wave, and the question arose in my mind of"Who will water my tomatoes when I'm on holiday?"
It started as a fairly mundane sentiment and then took on a more profound feeling as I sat at my piano and wrote it.
The structure of the song is flexible, and you could build each part one at a time (start with the alto as that is the tune) and repeat as you wish. I think it should end with the ' We will tend' section which lends itself to repetition.
Otherwise, feel free to play with it as you wish.
