I am releasing a single – a song called ‘One Day’ – at the beginning of July 2020 and I would really love your help.
I wrote this song several years ago and it was initially released in 2016 but it will also feature in an album I’m releasing in October 2020 called ‘Where Does It Hurt? An Introduction to Katy Rose Bennett’. This album will feature a couple of new songs but mostly songs from my back catalogue. It’s a kind of retrospective introduction to my work as a songwriter.
So, back to One Day. I originally wrote this song about feeling mentally trapped, trapped in my own mind, and about not knowing how long that feeling would last. Luckily it didn’t’ last forever. The lyrics (which you can read below) seem strangely pertinent at this uncertain time of lockdown and social distancing in which we find ourselves.
I need your help! I am making a music video for the song and was thinking that anyone who’d like to, anywhere in the world, could contribute to this video from their own homes. One of the new, positive experiences I’ve had during the lockdown is making videos – videos of songs of mine and songs by other people, collaborative videos with friends and birthday song videos.
So, what would I like you to do?

- Make a little film of yourself dancing/acting/miming/creatively responding to the song (with the song playing in the background).
- Send your video to me by 5pm on May 29th 2020 via WeTransfer – go to https://wetransfer.com/ and put info@katyrosebennett.com in the ‘Email to’ box, upload the video and state your name and the words One Day clearly in the message box. I will then edit all the videos I receive (or as many as possible) to create a unique music video for this song!
